5 Journaling Exercises To Help You Strengthen Your Mindset & Cultivate Self-Love

One of the biggest barriers to achieving your goals is what goes on between the two ears. So often we will get in our own way because of beliefs or thoughts that prevent us from acting in our own best interest.

Diet culture, our upbringing, social media and those who surround us all have a massive impact is us thinking negatively about our health, weight loss journey and our potential future.

Here are 5 exercises you can do to help reframe your mindset and get your ACTING again to a better, happier and healthier you.

Future-self journaling

Getting to where you want to be in the future starts with clarifying your goals today, and future-self journaling is one of the most effective ways to do this.

6 Writing Prompts To Get You Started:

  1. What is the future you are currently pursuing?
  2. What challenges might keep you from realizing the vision you have for your future self?
  3. What would your future self say about how you can overcome these challenges?
  4. What are some negative labels you have used for yourself in the past?
  5. What would happen if you stopped using limiting labels?
  6. What are some positive labels you can give yourself now that align with your future self’s dreams?

Now write in detail what your future YOU looks like, feels like, where is she living, what is she wearing, what has she achieved, what is her life like right now, etc. Create a clear vision for yourself. Lastly, close your eyes, take 3 deep breaths and visualize what you just wrote down.

Really feel the feels and live out your vision for a few minutes.

Gratitude practice

It is important to reflect on that which brings joy into your life and vocalize the ways in which you are blessed. Gratitude brings peace of mind and happiness into your life. If you never acknowledge the things that you are grateful for in life, everything good will pass you by without you even blinking an eye!

A good way to grow your awareness of life’s blessings is through journaling.
